PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thanks to a tweet from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, it was announced on Tuesday that Twitter has won the right to stream Thursday night NFL games.
Twitter was reportedly bidding against digital powerhouses like Verizon, Yahoo!, Amazon, and Facebook.
Twitter shares gained 2.4 percent to $17.50 in early trading, according to Bloomberg.com.
While the financial terms of the deal were not yet disclosed, Bloomberg.com reports, Yahoo paid $17 million to stream a game which was played in London at 9:30 a.m. eastern time last season, plus broadcast on network TV in the teams' home markets.
