Topping Off Ceremony Held For Future Museum Of The American Revolution

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The highest beam of the future Museum of the American Revolution was set in place at a topping off ceremony Thursday afternoon in old city.

Construction workers, friends and others involved with the building of the Museum of the American Revolution signed the highest beam of the building, before it was raised in place at the museum's topping off ceremony.

"Certainly, there is more steel going up around this highest beam." said Museum Vice President ZeeAnn Mason. "It's amazing to watch these guys walking on these beams. Of course, they're harnessed in and safe but there are still months of dangerous work yet to be done."

Mason says for those interested in the construction of the museum:

"You can watch this building take shape on our website. We have a WebCam that takes a picture every 15 minutes."

The building is expected to be complete in September 2016. After that, artifacts will be moved inside with the grand opening scheduled for 2017.
