The Alliance preserves the history of Philadelphia's most treasured buildings and communities by protecting their authentic history. The Preservation Alliance takes a hardcore stance on maintaining and promoting the history of the Philadelphia communities and landscapes with pride and appreciation for our city's unique character. The program has also launched an African-American initiative in which it strives to provide education and outreach to Philadelphia's historic black neighborhoods.

PAFA is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the country and prides itself on being a non-profit establishment with an acclaimed faculty. PAFA not only has an impressive art program, but it is also the only American art museum in the city of Philadelphia. Some of the country's most historic artists have studied at PAFA, and their art can be viewed in the galleries of the landmark facility.

MiND TV is an independent, public television station with an alternative edge that shows innovative programs geared toward local communities. The program has been around since 1990 as one of the only independent public TV stations in the area, and is at the forefront of multi-platform programing on unique and diverse topics in international news and original documentaries. The whole concept revolves around bringing a voice to people in your local community, but the program depends on private donations as a part of its funding. MiND TV is also the brain child of Independence Media, which is a non-profit organization that operates WYBE Channel 35 in Philaldephia.

At the AVA, young artists are trained as international opera soloists. The program attracts young singers from all over the world who are seeking the opportunity to be trained by the finest instructors. The academy was founded in 1934 and is the only tuition-free institution dedicated exclusively to the study of voice. Auditions are held every year for acceptance into the four year academy, and a total of 30 students are accepted annually.

Philadelphia's main public media service covers television, radio, and now the web and mobile devices in the local community. The public media outfit covers both news and cultural programs, and the various media outlets offer the best of the best in news and cultural events and information funded by the state and public donations. WHYY also brings educational programs such as "Sesame Street" to children and radio programs such as the popular Fresh Air program with Terry Gross to adults.
