Top Late-Night Eats In Philadelphia

Looking for some late-night eats? Philadelphia has many restaurants, diners and food carts that serve entrees, hotdogs, sandwiches and much more long after the bars are closed. With that said, here are some great places to help satisfy your late-night hunger pangs.

The Dapper Dog

The Dapper Dog is a mobile food cart that serves the Northern Liberties area every Friday and Saturday night from approximately 9:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. You can find it at the corner of 2nd and Poplar streets in the food-cart market "Garden Variety" near many of the local bars including the Standard Tap. The Dapper Dog serves a variety of hotdogs with unique toppings such as mac and cheese, potatoes and chili. Its menu constantly changes with the seasons and with its new 'hotdog research.' You can also find The Dapper Dog during the day at places like LOVE Park and 30th Street Station.

This cash-only classic diner in Rittenhouse Square is open 24 hours every single day of the week. It's consistently placed on lists of the top spots for brunch in Philadelphia, but it's also a great place to find a late-night meal. Serving the area for more than 34 years, the food here is a cheap alternative to the high-priced restaurants on the surrounding streets. The majority of the menu is under $10 and if you're in the mood for breakfast food, you've come to the right place. You also can't go wrong with any one of its burgers, sandwiches or wraps.

Mugshot Diner in Fishtown is open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays and until 2 a.m. or until 3 a.m. the rest of the week. In typical diner fashion, this spot has many menu items. That menu consists mostly of American food, such as wraps, sandwiches, burgers and seafood, but Mugshot also has dinner specials (smothered pork chops, for example), which come with a cup of homemade soup, two vegetables and a salad. The Diner even offers take-out and delivery until 12 a.m.

If you're in Chinatown, Tai Lake Restaurant is the place to be for a late-night meal. It closes at 3 a.m. every day and both the restaurant and menu are huge. You'll be able to enjoy classic Chinese food like sweet and sour chicken or unique delicacies like sautéed frog with lily bulb and garlic. Tai Lake also has a great selection of seafood, beef dishes and booze, so you'll be able to continue your drinking with bourbon, cocktails, beer, scotch and wine.

Underdogs has two locations in Philadelphia – one in Rittenhouse Square and the other in South Philly. On the weekends, the Rittenhouse location is open until 4 a.m. and the South Philly location until 3 a.m. Both locations serve cheap hotdogs, sausages and fries, and the restaurant has more than 15 varieties of dogs like the Coney Classic (sauerkraut and spicy mustard) or the Texas Tommy (bacon wrapped, fried and topped with cheese). The dogs are 100 percent beef and on request, vegan dogs and gluten-free rolls are available.
