One of the best ways to meet new people is in bars, and if you're single in Philadelphia, you're in luck! Philly has ranked on many lists of the best cities for singles. Not sure where to head to mingle with other singles? See below for some hotspots.
1801 Chestnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19103
The Continental Midtown's rooftop bar might be one of the best-kept secrets in the Rittenhouse area. The restaurant itself consists of two floors and serves some great tapas and small plates, but once you're directed to the elevator in the back of the restaurant, you won't need to go anywhere else in Philly. Stephen Starr's upscale restaurant and bar attracts young professionals to its rooftop area year-round (it's partially enclosed) and is one of the more popular places in the Rittenhouse area during the summer months. Grab a drink from the round bar (try one of its martinis or cocktails, you won't regret it!) and find a place to sit out on the deck.
Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant
4120 Main St.
Philadelphia, PA 19127
If you're out and about on Main Street in Manayunk, check out the Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant to meet some new people. Plenty of singles migrate to Main Street every night, and the Manayunk Brewery is no different. The outdoor deck overlooks the Schuylkill River, the bar brews its own beer and the kitchen offers a free pizza buffet during its Friday happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant has many places to relax by yourself or meet new friends, including a few outside areas, a tiki bar and a huge, multi-level dining room.
501 N. 13th St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
Prohibition Taproom is tucked between Spring Garden and Callowhill and, similar to what a bar might have been like during the prohibition era, the environment here is dark and the drinks are strong. The drafts on its 12 lines change frequently, but the beers it carries often have a high abv, like the 10.5% abv Founders Imperial Stout. Prohibition Taproom also has quite a few bottles and a decent wine selection. This taproom is right around the corner from the Union Transfer, so it's a great place to hit up after seeing a concert.
Pub On Passyunk East
1501 E. Passyunk Ave.
Philadelphia, PA 19147
If you're in South Philly, head to the Pub On Passyunk East (P.O.P.E.) for a night out on the town as a single gal or guy. P.O.P.E. is a comfortable, cozy and no-frills pub with Saturday and Sunday brunch, outdoor seating and a fun, rock n' roll jukebox. The kitchen specializes in American pub food and the bar has 14 taps of local, national and imported microbrews. You'll feel right at home at P.O.P.E as a single.
Time Restaurant, Whiskey Bar and Taproom
1315 Sansom St.
Philadelphia, PA 19107
Time Restaurant, Whiskey Bar and Taproom has something for everyone. In fact, three rooms come together in this bar to create something truly unique. Once entered through the front doors, turn left to head to the dining room for an entertaining meal and drinks – live jazz is played every night. Across the dining room resides the whiskey bar for a quieter option, if you want to enjoy a drink and mingle with friends or people at the bar. Head upstairs if you're looking to dance – that's where you'll find DJs spinning popular music every Friday and Saturday night.
