PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Earlier this week, Mo'ne Davis' new sneaker line was announced. Now, the 13-year-old Philadelphia Little League phenom is having a movie made about her.
Disney Channel is developing an original movie called Throw Like Mo, that will tell Davis' remarkable story. Davis, who is the first Little League player to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, will help in developing the movie.
"Mo'ne is not only a top-notch athlete in three different sports — baseball, basketball and soccer, but she is an exemplary student and someone who will remind our audiences that they can do anything with hard work, dedication and belief in themselves," said Naketha Mattocks, Vice President, Original Movies, Disney Channels. "We know her story will inspire audiences regardless of their age, culture or gender and I am thrilled to have Debra, Sheldon and Justin leading the charge to bring this movie to life."
According to deadline.com, Emmy-nominated producer Debra Martin Chase (The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants,The Cheetah Girl movies, Lemonade Mouth) will executive produce, while Sheldon Candis and Justin Wilson will be the writers (LUV and A Slave In The White House). espnW will also consult on the movie.
