PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Comedian Colin Quinn offers an impressive one-man narrative, titled "Long Story Short," making a brief stay at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre under the auspices of the Philadelphia Theatre Company.
The production -- a history of the world in about 75 minutes, directed by Jerry Seinfeld -- has already made a big splash in New York.
New York-based former bartender Colin Quinn spent five years in the cast of TV's popular "Saturday Night Live," also making comedy club appearances. His unique combination of "observational" humor and political satire offers a unique mix.
His routines run a combination of various cultures and their originators.
There's also an impressive visual element: an elaborate full-stage, rear-screen projection system which may not illuminate every aspect of the spoken word but certainly helps those that it does.
While there are parts of the narrative that are unquestionably overworked, much of Quinn's humor is worth the occasional ramble.
"Long Story Short" is booked to run through July 10th at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, Broad and Lombard Streets, in center city Philadelphia.
