Suspect In Custody For Punching Veteran In The Face
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS)—Police have arrested Garry Beauford in connection with the alleged assault of a military veteran who was running across the country in support of veterans.
On October 2nd, Brandon O'Toole, a military veteran, ran through Wilmington as a part of a cross country trek from California to Maine. In the 600 block of N. Market Street, O'Toole passed Beauford, who without provocation, allegedly punched O'Toole in the face and fled the scene.
O'Toole sustained a facial laceration and a concussion.
On Thursday morning O'Toole reported the incident to police. Corporal Garry Tabor reviewed the surveillance footage from a local business' camera that captured the incident. Cpl. Tabor relayed a suspect description to other police officers and safety ambassadors from Downtown Visions.
Within a few hours the safety ambassadors located Garry Beauford sleeping in a doorway on the 100 block of N. Market Street and immediately contacted police.
