Suspect Identified In North Philadelphia Check Cashing Store Homicide

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police have identified the man responsible for the shooting death of a store owner last weekend.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 31-year-old Eric Locke after police say he allegedly shot and killed the owner of B & R Check Cashing in North Philadelphia last Saturday.

The victim, 53-year-old Joel Blumer, was just opening up his store at 26th and Sterner streets when he was shot twice in the neck, according to authorities. BLumer was transported to Temple Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the store, leading police to believe robbery was the motive. At this time, authorities are offering a $20,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of Locke.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 215-686-8477.
