Corrections Officer Stabbed At Northeast Philly Prison Released From Hospital

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A corrections officer at a Philadelphia prison was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times by a prisoner Wednesday night.

Authorities say the attack took place a little before 6 p.m. at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility.

Police say 20-year old Matthew Early stabbed the 25-year old officer in the face, head, neck, shoulders and arms with a makeshift knife. The officer was was treated and hasd been released from Aria-Torresdale Hospital.

Early made headlines in 2012 for a shooting at a SEPTA Market-Frankford El station that left two people injured after an argument following a 76ers game.

He is currently awaiting sentencing on charges of attempted murder in the shooting.
