SportsRadio 94WIP Josh Innes Show Raises $32,335 For Women's Shelter In Dallas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Sportsradio 94WIP Josh Innes Show has raised $32,335 for the Genesis Women's Shelter in Dallas, Texas. The fundraiser was held in reaction to the graphic photos that emerged last week of Greg Hardy's alleged former, and beaten, girlfriend. WIP's Josh Innes along with co-hosts Spike Eskin and Hollis Thomas immediately started a GoFundMe account for the Genesis Women's Shelter in Dallas. Innes and Thomas each put in $500 of their own money to get the campaign rolling.

They started with a goal of $3,000 to be raised during the show from 2-6P on Friday, November 6th.  By the close of the show that day, the total was over $8,000. Fundraising as of Wednesday, November 11th is at a grand total of $32,335 collected for the Genesis Women's Shelter.  Due to overwhelming response, the account is currently still open.

Bianca Jackson, the director of funds and community development for the Genesis Women's Shelter said "We are so so grateful.  I'm just doing the quick math and that's nearly 200 women and children when they call our number, they will get because of what you and those fans did. That is unbelievable for us. We are so so grateful."

WIP afternoon host Josh Innes commented:  "Domestic violence is something far bigger than football. After seeing the pictures that were posted by Deadspin, I felt driven to do something. I knew that the City of Philadelphia would jump at the opportunity to bury negative stereotypes and help deserving women in a rival city. I'm proud that the rest of the country gets to see the goodness in the hearts of Philadelphians.  Most importantly we're helping a cause that far too often goes unnoticed. This also shows you the power of radio. This is truly amazing."
