Special Programming Set For 9/11 Events

CBS will provide a broad look back and forward with special programming during the weekend marking the historic 10th anniversary of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Voices from around across the nation will share remembrances about living through the nightmare as well as those who had to find the strength to live on after losing a loved one.

Starting on Friday, Sept. 9, both the CBS Early Show and CBS Evening News will broadcast from Ground Zero in New York City.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, six hours of anniversary coverage will begin with a CBS News special "9/11: America Remembers," anchored by Scott Pelley. Immediately following coverage of scheduled events, a special edition of "Face The Nation" will broadcast live from Ground Zero. That evening, the entire "60 Minutes" broadcast will be devoted to anniversary coverage, followed by CBS Television Network and filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet and James Hanlon's presentation of "9/11: 10 Years Later," an update of the critically acclaimed, multiple award-winning film "9/11."

WCBS-TV in New York will also be providing live coverage of events along with extensive coverage on CBSNewYork.com.

CBS RADIO

CBS Radio News will offer expanded programming, including a five-part series, "Justice In a Time of Terror," as well as live anchored coverage of the events in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania.

In New York City, stations 1010 WINS and WCBS 880 will air reports from memorial services, churches, firehouses and other locations throughout the city, including Times Square and Ground Zero. Reporters' reflections and lessons learned from first responders and survivors will tell how lower Manhattan has changed since 2001. WFAN's Mike Francesa will host a special one-hour program before "The NFL Now" highlighting interviews and remembrances with Rudy Giuliani, Rep. Peter King, Joe Torre, Jim Fassell and others.

In Pittsburgh, about 80 miles northwest of Shanksville, Penn., Newsradio 1020 KDKA will focus coverage on local people who lost family members or were directly affected by the events of 9/11. Country station Y108 will join with the University of Pittsburgh to help form a human flag during the home game on Sept. 10.

Philadelphia station KYW Newsradio 1060 will feature a series of interviews with reporters covering events 10 years ago as well as posting online an audio stream what was being broadcast minute-by-minute on Sept. 11, 2001, from 8:30 a.m. to midnight. WPHT 1210 AM's Michael Smerconish will participate in a trip to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville on Sept. 10, while Dom Giordano will broadcast from the Pentagon on Sept. 9. Smerconish will then participate in the Travis Manion Foundation 5k run in Doylestown, Pa. and 98.1 WOGL's Frank Lewis and Dom Giordano will broadcast from the September 11 race in Collingswood, New Jersey.

ELSEWHERE

In Detroit, WWJ Newsradio 950 will feature interviews with victims' families as well as special reports on changes in border security, air travel, the Arab American community and first responders' preparedness. Country station 99.5 WYCD will host a park concert and celebration where thousands of lanterns will be lit at 9:11 p.m.

In Minnesota, WCCO-TV reporters Jason DeRusha and Esme Murphy will host a 9/11 Tribute Concert at the Lake Harriet Band Shell in Linden Hills, Minn.
