Sister of Lower Merion Teen In 2010 Spycam Case Files Her Own Lawsuit

LOWER MERION, Pa. (CBS) -- The Lower Merion School District says it will vigorously defend itself against another lawsuit related to last year's webcam spying scandal.
The latest lawsuit was filed earlier this week in federal court in Philadelphia on behalf of Paige Robbins. She is the 19-year-old sister of Blake Robbins, who sued the district last year over software that allowed the district to remotely activate cameras on school-issued laptops and received a $175,000 settlement.
Now, Paige Robbins claims the district secretly captured embarrassing images of her at home with the same laptop webcam. District spokesman Doug Young calls the lawsuit a "money grab" and a waste of taxpayer dollars.
"If you look at the complaint, it's deceptive, it's misleading, it relies on excerpts from a deposition transcript that had been very conspicuously edited to omit key words," Young tells KYW Newsradio.
He says a federal investigation found that no one ever saw a compromising image of Paige Robbins or anyone else. Nevertheless, her lawyer says her privacy rights were violated.
