Water Main Break Leads To Sinkhole In Kensington
By Tim Jimenez
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A huge sinkhole opened up at a Kensington intersection and crews are expected to continue their repair work today.
Concrete barriers surround this massive sinkhole on Tulip and Huntingdon Streets. People getting their mornings started, walked by and snapped some pictures of this impressive crater in Kensington.
Christina who lives a few doors down from the hole is stunned at how quickly this problem escalated.
"It's unbelievable, it was the size of a tennis ball and then within a matter of an hour the whole street caved in and I didn't expect it to be that deep and that horrible," she said.
A water department supervisor said they still need to repair a 12 inch main that broke that contributed to this mess.
Water had to be shutoff for some residents, but their service was restored.
It's unclear how long it will take to fill up this sinkhole.
