WOODBURY, N.J. (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating the murder of a New Jersey woman after she was found dead while house-sitting this weekend.
Police say the body of 26-year-old Shawneeq M. Carter was found at a home on Hopkins Street in Woodbury, New Jersey around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
An autopsy by the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office determined Carter died of blunt force trauma. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Neighbors are upset and hope police find answers quickly.
"They don't really know who did it, why they did it or nothing. So windows locked, doors locked at all times now," said neighbor Kim Robinson.
"I seen [Shawneeq] go in the house and that was it. But I was out here Friday night and there was a lot of people out here so I didn't see or hear or notice nothing," she added.
Robinson, who lives across the street, tells CBS3 she won't be letting her kids play outside for a little while.
"To be honest, I'm really scared because I lived in Woodbury all my life, born and raised, and this doesn't happen out here like that," she said.
Carter leaves behind a young son, according to a relative.
She studied at Camden County College and was a graduate of Pennsauken High School.
Authorities say that the homeowners were out of town at the time of her death and have not explained what their relation was to Carter.
