Barricaded, armed person in West Philadelphia causes SEPTA delays, road closures

A large police response involving a barricaded person caused SEPTA trolley delays and detours, as well as road closures, Tuesday morning in West Philadelphia.

Officers were stationed outside an apartment building on the 4700 block of Chester Avenue, where a person was held inside with a rifle. Around 8 a.m., police said the person came outside and was taken into custody, and there were no injuries.

Earlier in the morning, residents were evacuated and police were trying to talk the person into coming out of the building.

Police said no shots were fired, and the person was by themselves with no hostages.
