Consumer Product Safety Commission Urges Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Users To Stop Using Phone Immediately
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to immediately turn off their phones and stop charging and using them. The CPSC made the recommendation on Friday, one day after the FAA urged owners of the phone not to use them, or charge them while on a plane.
The CPSC described the aftermath as serious following the batteries overheating in the phone.
Samsung Is Recalling The Galaxy Note 7 Worldwide Over Battery Problem
Reports have indicated that the batteries in some Galaxy Note 7 phones have overheated and caught fire. The CPSC says this has occurred to the lithium-ion batteries during charging and during normal use.
The CPSC says that it is working with Samsung to formally announce a recall.
