Pre-race rituals: I arrive early and use the facilities as many times as possible before the race. I've run three marathons and several half marathons and have never required a pit stop mid-race.
Pre-race snack: A fruit smoothie with whey protein and chia seeds
Tips for new runners: If your goal is to get into better shape, don't use running as an excuse to eat more pasta. And don't compare yourself to others: they don't care.
Why she runs: Running is the first sport I attempted after soccer season wrapped in third grade. The thing that surprised me about running is that I learned to love it. I found that with hard work and dedication, I was able to get into the best shape of my life and attain middle-of-the-pack status.
