Rowan To Break Ground For $71M Building Addition
By David Madden
GLASSBORO, N.J., (CBS) -- They broke ground Wednesday afternoon on a major expansion of the Engineering school at Rowan University.
The $71 million expansion of Rowan Hall will allow the enrollment of the engineering school to double.
"The project we're breaking ground on is receiving $45.9 million in funding for a three-story, 90,500 square foot addition to the current building," Governor Chris Christie said.
That will house new classrooms, lab space, an outreach center for prospective students and a high performance computer cluster. Rowan will also build a new business school complex. The idea -- to stop turning away New Jersey residents who want to come here, but are forced to attend classes elsewhere because of lack of space.
The project should be complete in about three years.
