Report: Sixers In Talks To Lure Dario Saric For Upcoming Season

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- They said it couldn't be done!

According to international pro basketball reporter David Pick, the Philadelphia 76ers are trying to lure Dario Saric for the 2015-16 season. Saric, the 2014 12th overall pick of the Sixers via the Magic, signed a three-year deal to play in Turkey with the with the Anadolu Efes before he was drafted. The deal has a player option in the final year, and is reportedly worth $1.2 million.

The Sixers would be able to pay a maximum of $625,000 in a potential buyout due to a restriction in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement. If the Sixers do sign Saric to an NBA contract this year, they can offer him 20-percent more than the $1.8 million figure slotted for a 12th overall NBA draft pick.

Saric, 21, is currently playing in the Turkish Basketball League playoffs, averaging almost 18 points and 11 rebounds per game.

This report, combined with Scott O'Neil admitting there is a "slight chance" Saric comes to the U.S. for this upcoming season, has given Sixers fans some hope.
