Rams Acquire No. 1 Pick From Titans

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An NFL Draft bombshell!

First reported by SI.com's Peter King, the Tennessee Titans have traded the first overall pick in the NFL Draft to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday. This comes exactly two weeks before the draft begins.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport has the reported details of the trade. The Titans will receive the Rams' 2016 first-round pick (No. 15), two 2016 second-round picks, a 2016 third-round pick, plus the Rams' first and third-round picks in 2017.

Along with the No. 1 overall pick, the Rams will receive the Titans' 2016 fourth and sixth-round picks.

The trade makes sense for both teams, as the Rams are in desperate need of a quarterback with Case Keenum and Nick Foles. The Titans have last year's No. 2 overall pick, Marcus Mariota.

According to NFL Reporter Ben Allbright, a Rams source says they will take Carson Wentz with the first overall pick.

For the Eagles, this likely decreases their chances of landing one of the top-two QB prospects -- Wentz or Jared Goff -- at pick No. 8, if that's the route they were interested in.

Allbright said earlier this week on the 94WIP Josh Innes Show, that the Eagles were "enamored" with corner Vernon Hargreaves at No. 8 and QB Kevin Hogan, later in the draft. This strategy, or something similar, now makes even more sense.
