Report: Jets A 'Legitimate Landing Spot' For Vick
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Michael Vick wants to be a starting quarterback. That opportunity has come and gone in Philadelphia. A two hour trip up I-95 might give him the chance he wants.
According to a report from NFL.COM's Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets are viewed as a 'legitimate landing spot' for Michael Vick. The Jets started rookie Geno Smith at quarterback, after Mark Sanchez went down with an injury.
Smith had mixed results as Jets starter, and the team was hesitant to proclaim him the starter for 2014. It seems unlikely Sanchez will be a member of the Jets this year, as he's owed a $2 million roster bonus if they don't cut him before March 25th.
Vick started five games for the Eagles in 2013, before going down with a hamstring injury and ultimately losing his job to Nick Foles. Vick did start one more game, but did not look like he had fully recovered from the hamstring injury.
There is a familiar face for Vick with the Jets, as former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg holds the same position in New York.
