Rehabilitation After A Stroke
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Time is of the essence when it comes to stroke management. The earlier a person gets care after symptoms the quicker effective care can be started.
But speed is not important just at that level. It is crucial during the rehabilitation process as well. It is critical to get rehab started because it has been shown that it makes a big difference.
Much of this is done in major rehab centers and for a period of time home treatments can be arranged, but what about other steps months to years down the road? A new study has found benefits to yoga and the benefits can go all the way down to long term balance and flexibility.
Clearly this is important from a study standpoint for stroke but it also shows a value for all of us. Yoga can help with stress reduction and overall health and might be something to look into.
