Presidential Candidate Rand Paul To Accept Donations Of Bitcoins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – One candidate for President is accepting a unique type of donations.

Presidential hopeful Rand Paul says he'll accept donations in virtual currency.

The Kentucky Republican is allowing his supporters to donate to his campaign using bitcoins.

He's the first candidate for President to accept the digital funds.

Paul's campaign will, however, have to convert any bitcoins to dollars before using them.

And in case you're wondering what bitcoins are, they're described as a "consensus network that enables a new payment system and a completely digital money." No banks are involved.
