Public Invited To Attend Hearings For Applicants Of Philadelphia's Next Casino
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hold suitability hearings next month for applicants of Philadelphia's next casino -- and the public is permitted to attend.
The public can't participate, but can watch the suitability hearings where the casino applicants go before the board and say why their project is better than the rest.
"This is a process where now the applicants will come before the board and present a small case and then the board can ask them questions about anything that they might be interested in," said Richard McGarvey, spokesman for The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. "It could be traffic problems. It could be the location. It could be how much revenue do they generate."
There are five four-hour blocks scheduled for each of the applicants begining on January 28th. They will all be held in Ballroom A of the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
They'll also be streamed live from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's web site.
