Professional Women's Network Is Expanding
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia women's group that began ten years ago as a sort of diverse Rolodex now aims to expand horizons, not just connections.
Melissa Dietrich, president of the Professional Women's Roundtable, has been with the group 7 years and seen an evolution in its goals. It began as (and continues to be) a way for a diverse group of women in medicine, science, law and other fields to make face-to-face connections.
But now they can also add to their skill sets. "We have opportunities for women to maybe learn PR skills, maybe learn a project management skills, using P&L skills, and budgeting skills. All of these different things, a woman may go through their profession career and say, 'you know, for me to get to the next level, I really need to do A, B and C.'"
One June session is at Whitemarsh Country Club. "This is a partnership program with Women on Course. We want to provide our women an opportunity to very comfortable on the golf course, 'cause many opportunities for business development and relationships do happen in that setting."
Dietrich says new faces are always welcome.
