POLL: Should Kids Go To Etiquette Classes?

MULLICA HILL, NJ (CBS) -- Parents, would you consider sending your kid to an etiquette class?

Two women from New Jersey are offering classes to teach "general etiquette and manners" to both children and adults.

Kristina Love and Megan Love Sakhleh are co-owners of Love That Etiquette in South Jersey.

"Today's younger generation is in a fragile predicament with technology, social media and overall stress. We feel proper etiquette is essential for learning to make good choices that lead to success. Everyone, especially young people, benefit from having good manners, self-confidence and respect for others. Courtesy and consideration are not only the building blocks of successful relationships, but also critical ingredients to life-long achievement."

Kristina and Megan offer classes for all ages, but they say they do try to separate the age groups from 6-10, 11-15 and so on.

"There are some basic concepts that people know and simply like to have reinforced by someone other than the parents or someone at home (i.e. magic words, good hygiene, consideration for others or common courtesies.) On the other hand, there are other concepts that are not as well known that we address in our curriculum (i.e. traditional place settings vs. special occasion place settings, appropriate dining etiquette, how to sit correctly or proper introductions.)

They say having good manners is necessary in today's competitive society.

"Proper etiquette enables individuals to feel comfortable with themselves as well as others; therefore, promoting self-confidence, self-esteem and personal growth."

Traditional etiquette curriculum is six hours of training, which is typically spread over two sessions, according to the website.
