Poll: Pennsylvanians Split On Health Care Legislation
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- You may not like Congress, but a new poll suggests that some of you like what they're working on right now: tax cuts.
The latest Quinnipiac University poll looks at what Pennsylvanians are thinking these days, and the results are far from surprising.
"Pennsylvanians overwhelmingly, by 69 to 24 percent, like the tax deal that passed the Senate this week and is going before the House," assistant poll director Peter Brown told KYW Newsradio on Thursday morning.
Even rank-and-file Democrats are two-to-one behind the deal President Obama cut with the GOP, even if their representatives on Capitol Hill may not be thrilled about it.
Then there's the matter of health care reform and what to do with it.
On that issue, the poll shows an even split among Pennsylvania residents: 45 percent to repeal, 45 percent to retain it, with Democrats mostly favoring the change and Republicans not.
Only a small part of the almost 1,600 calls statewide were made after a federal judge in Virginia declared part of the health care law unconstitutional, according to Brown.
