Police Investigating After Woman Reports Violent Attempted Sex Assault In Northern Liberties

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating after a woman reported being attacked in Northern Liberties early Saturday morning.

According to police, the 28-year-old female was walking in the 700 block of North 3rd Street around 1:30 a.m. when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male.

That male physically assaulted her, reportedly tearing at her undergarments, ripping her dress and even tearing her bra in two.

The victim managed to fight her attacker off, and he fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s with a muscular build. He's about 5'10" to 6'0" tall and was wearing light brown or khaki pants and a dark colored sweatshirt. Police say he also may have been armed with a knife.
