PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Police Athletic League is helping young girls from around the area get ready for their high school prom.
The prom boutique let more than 200 girls take their pick of new and gently used dresses.
Tache Green, a junior at Upper Moreland High School, says she's very appreciative for this event.
"I actually feel great coming out here because it's actually hard to find a prom dress," said Green.
The boutique also supplied the girls with shoes and nail polish.
Ted Qualli with The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia says events like this are perfect for strengthening relationships between police and the communities they work in.
"It's tremendous to have opportunities for young people to build positive relationships with law enforcement and that's what PAL is all about. It's cops helping kids. They have personal relationships with these girls and that's where it begins," said Qualli.
This is the first big dance for many of the girls who attended the event and many of them say they are thankful for the program.
