Philadelphia police officer shoots someone outside children's hospital; investigation underway
A Philadelphia police officer shot someone in an incident outside a children's hospital on Thursday morning, sources say.
The Shooting Investigation Group confirmed to CBS News Philadelphia that a shooting was under investigation involving two people shot near St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Sources and police have not said who was shot.
According to sources, the shooting occurred after police received a call about an armed person threatening people along Erie Avenue.
Police responded to the scene, encountered a person, and at some point, an officer fired their weapon and struck one person.
It's not clear whether the incident involves any hospital personnel or others connected to the health facility.
