Plane experiencing mechanical issue makes emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport
A plane was diverted to Philadelphia International Airport and made an emergency landing after experiencing a nose gear steering issue Wednesday morning, officials said.
American Airlines flight 5422 departed Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and landed in Philly after the FAA says the crew reported a hydraulics issue.
The Bombardier CRJ700 appeared to circle a few times before landing, data from FlightAware shows.
The plane landed safely at Philadelphia International Airport around 10:20 a.m.
The flight was originally bound for Portland International Jetport in Maine.
An airline spokesperson said no one was injured and that passengers will be provided with a new flight out of PHL to Maine today.
The jet's nose gear issue will be repaired, and it should be back in service later Wednesday.
The FAA said it will investigate the incident.
