Judge: Phone Call With Accuser's Mother Can Be Played During Cosby Trial
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A Montgomery County judge has ruled prosecutors can play a recorded phone call of comedian Bill Cosby at his sex assault trial.
The call was recorded by the mother of his accuser.
Cosby's attorneys argued the tape should not be admissible because Cosby never gave consent to being recorded.
But the recording was done in Canada, which only requires one party consent. The judge says Canadian law prevails.
In the recording, Cosby offers to pay for his accuser's therapy and for her graduate school.
Cosby is charged with drugging and molesting a woman -- Andrea Constand -- at his Cheltenham mansion in 2004.
His trial is scheduled to start in June.
