PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's is a jam-packed edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show. KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch have a special guest this week. Former US National Team player and ESPN commentator Alexi Lalas is on the show to discuss the new USA coach, Jurgen Klinsmann.
In part one of the show, we look at Klinsmann's hiring and the impact it will have on the American program. Klinsmann comes in with a massive résumé as player and coach, and is the first World Cup winner to run the national team, winning in 1990 with Germany.
In part two, Eli and Greg take a look at a tough week for the Philadelphia Union. The team dropped a frustrating game against Colorado at PPL Park, a game which saw defender Sheanon Williams get ejected. Also, striker and team-leading goal scorer Carlos Ruiz has controversially left the team, with the Union still negotiating his transfer.
In part three, Eli and Greg look at the Philadelphia Independence of the WPS. The ladies of the Independence managed to grind out a 1-0 against the Atlanta Beat, at Widener University. With that win the Independence locks up a playoff spot, which will be held at PPL Park.
