PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you're in the market to buy a home for the first time, look no further than Philadelphia. The city is one of the top places for starter homes. The property price is right in Philadelphia.
Spring is in full bloom and the housing market is in full boom in many parts of Philadelphia, spanning as far as the eye can see.
A PBR, a shot of Jim Bean and the Philadelphia Housing Market: an unlikely cocktail that seems to speak volumes. That is the ultra cheap special, as it's called, at one South Street Lounge and it is one of the enticing qualities given a shout out in a recent study released by Realtor.com.
For $3, the special is listed as an example of Philadelphia's affordability compared to neighboring big cities like New York and Washington D.C.
Philadelphia is in the coveted No. 2 spot on the site's list of top cities for first time home buyers.
According to the study, affordable properties in Philadelphia are pulling nearly 27,000 New Yorkers to The City of Brotherly Love each year.
"For first time home-buyers, the most important thing is the personality of the neighborhood," said realtor Rob Oryl.
According to the site, Portland, Maine took the top spot with the Top Five including St. Louis, nearby Allentown and Albany. Harrisburg came in at No. 6.
"It has a lot of entertainment, good cuisine, good drinks. There's always something to do," said Chris Simpson, who recently moved to Philadelphia.
Philly's deep history was also given kudos.
A resident close to our hearts here at CBS 3 also received some praise on the list. The study listed Ukee Washington as "perhaps the coolest news anchor in America."
