A 93-year-old man killed inside his Philadelphia home has neighbors shocked: "I couldn't believe it"

Philadelphia police are investigating the suspicious death of an elderly man after he was found dead inside a Logan home. Police said 93-year-old Lafayette Dailey had lacerations on his head and chest.

Dailey was found inside his home on the 4500 block of North 16th Street at 2:58 p.m. Friday and was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m. by medics. He lived there by himself.

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday he was stabbed to death.

Dailey's white 2007 Chrysler 300, with a Pennsylvania license plate number of GRJ-5294, was missing from the scene, along with his car keys and wallet.

The car has since been located, but no further information has been released. It was towed to an impound lot, where investigators are looking for evidence.

Dailey's murder has left his friends in the neighborhood in shock. They said they can't imagine who would want to harm the 93-year-old. Dailey was a veteran, a churchgoer and active in his community and the senior center.

"I was overdone when I heard someone broke in here, killed him and took his car," Dave Garner, a friend, said. "I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it."

It's unclear if there were signs of struggle or break-in at Dailey's residence. Sources told CBS News Philadelphia that a weapon hasn't been recovered.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call police.
