Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Car In Bensalem

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Bensalem on Friday night.

Around 8:35 p.m., Bensalem police responded to the scene of an accident at 2555 Street Road, where a pedestrian had been struck.

A preliminary investigation found that a two-door 2010 Kia operated by 28-year-old Peter Romagano of Stanwood Drive was traveling westbound on Street Road. The car entered the center turn lane and attempted to turn left onto Castle Drive.

The pedestrian, later identified as 38-year-old Manuel Rivera of Knights Road in Bensalem, was walking south across Street Road in front of Nifty Fifties when he was struck in the center lane by the Kia.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the accident, and the victim was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition with severe head and face trauma.
