Parents Remain Jailed After 3 Children Removed From Filthy Logan Home

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The parents of three small children found yesterday inside a filthy Logan home (see related story) have been arraigned on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.

The mother, 24-year-old Lakeeshanaye Overton, is being held in lieu of $7,500 bail. The father, 25-year-old Soyika Eldemire, is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Philadelphia police say district officers went to the home, in the 4800 block of North 9th Street, to serve a warrant on Overton for domestic abuse charges.

Inside the home they found feces, "unknown fluids," and trash covering all the floors, furniture, and a playpen.  Three children, ages one, three, and four, clothed only in diapers, were also found.

The children were evaluated by a local hospital before being placed in the custody of the city's Department of Human Services.
