NJ Cop Injured In Scuffle With Suspect
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A Camden County police officer suffered a broken arm while attempting to arrest a man who ran away from a traffic stop.
Authorities say officers Michael Lance and Keith Hogle made the stop in Camden around 10:10 a.m. Friday. But before the vehicle came to a stop, they saw the front-seat passenger throw some objects out the window.
The passenger, 24-year-old Runnemede resident Christopher Toms, ran off and allegedly threw away some bags of heroin before Hogle caught him. But Toms quickly pushed the officer to the ground and escaped.
Despite his injury, Hogle called in a description and direction of flight of Toms, who was caught by other county police officers.
Toms is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer. It's not known if he's retained a lawyer.
