More New Jersey Schools Offer Students Breakfast

BOUND BROOK, N.J. (AP) — More low-income children in New Jersey are getting breakfast at school.

Advocates for Children of New Jersey on Tuesday released a report that shows schools in the state are feeding breakfast to about 75,000 more children.

The number of eligible children rose from about 136,000 in 2010 to nearly 211,000 in 2014. The percent of eligible children participating in the federally-funded program increased from 30 percent in 2010 to 41 percent this year.

School districts are expected to collect $21 million more in federal reimbursements this year.
