Montgomery County Mother's Invention Helps Children Tie Shoes
By Paul Kurtz
LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (CBS) – A Bala Cynwyd mother is trying to mainstream her invention that she says teaches kids how to tie their shoes in minutes.
If necessity is the mother of invention then this mom may have hit the mother lode.
Courtney Maslow started to brainstorm when she noticed that a lot of kids, including her 8-year-old daughter couldn't tie their shoes.
"I see kids in middle school that can't tie. And I see kindergartners that can use iPods, computers, they have cell phones, but they cannot tie shoes," Courtney says.
For some it's too much Velcro, others have problems because their hands are too small.
So Courtney developed a little gizmo she calls Loopeez.
"Loopeez work by attaching to laces and holding the loops in place. They're made out of silicone rubber with two holes and when you pull the shoelaces through they work as an extra hand," she explains.
For now she's selling her product online at www.loopeez.com.
