Michael Carter-Williams Has Never Had A Tastykake
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Michael Carter-Williams has had a very up-and-down first year in Philadelphia, as the rookie point guard of the 76ers.
The season started with a bang. A win over two-time defending champion Miami, including a near quadruple-double for the rookie. A 3-0 record, when most expected the Sixers to be the worst team in the NBA. That was the up.
The down has been recently. 11 straight losses, the trade of two of the team's starters, and the sense that the Sixers have found the bottom, and may not get back up this season.
"It's been really tough. Our timing has been a little off," Carter-Williams said to 94WIP's Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis, of trying to mesh quickly with his new teammates. "You know, it's tough playing with guys that you've never played with before, even the guys that like---even Tony [Wroten] and some other guys that are on the team, I'd never really played that much with. I'm still trying to get used to it."
"I'm holding up alright. I've got some bumps and bruises, but for the most part I'm doing pretty good. I've just been trying to stay healthy."
Still, even as bad as its been, Carter-Williams think the team has a great view of Philadelphia sports fans.
"I think they support, the fans, they definitely support a lot and I think they're just looking for something to be really proud of, that's what I thought of people have told me. They're tough, but if you go hard and play and give it your all, they'll love you."
Gargano and Ellis were doing their show from the Tastykake bakery, in honor of the company's 100th anniversary. Surprisingly, Tastykake is one thing that Carter-Williams has not yet experienced.
"I've never had one before."
