Local Theaters Celebrate 30 Years Of Ferris Bueller
by Paul Kurtz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ferris Bueller took his epic day off 30 years ago, leading some area movie theaters to re-release the comedy classic.
Officially released on June 11th 1986, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is still rolling along like a fine Ferrari; evoking memories that remain fresh.
"When he's on that float in Chicago singing that song. Oh, and then when the car goes through the window," one fan recalled.
Angela Beatty was in her teens when she first saw Ferris and could not get enough of it.
"I think I saw that movie three or four times the summer of '86. Great movie, I still have the poster. It had a major impact. Why? I think it was the music, the characters in it, it was just the quintessential 80's movie," she said.
A quintessential movie, with quintessential characters.
Ferris Bueller is now playing in select theaters throughout the area.
