Hype For Temple's Showdown With Notre Dame Detours Philadelphia Drivers

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The much-anticipated Temple-Notre Dame football showdown at the Linc is already affecting traffic near Independence Mall.

If you're driving around the historic area you're going to be detoured while the Temple Owls attempt to make some history of their own.

Market Street between 5th and 6th Streets is closed to traffic because the "College GameDay" set is taking up the entire block.

The nationally broadcast show chose Philadelphia as its location this week to preview the game between the undefeated Temple Owls and Fighting Irish.

There's a tented desk in the street surrounded by lights, flat screens, and even a mini-football field.

6th Street is also restricted to one lane because of the production trucks parked there. The city is allowing ESPN to block the street, saying the value of national exposure is worth it.
