Guide To Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is a two-and-a-half week German beer festival that's held every year beginning in mid-September.

McGillan's will be celebrating Oktoberfest from August 22nd through October 1st, featuring German beers such as Stoudt's Fest, Flying Fish's Octoberphish, Victory's Festbier, Ramstein's Oktoberfest, Pumpkin Ales from Jack's, Stegmaier & Weyerbacher. Also, German lunch & dinner specials like Mussels steamed in Oktoberfest Lager, Grilled Pork Loin, and German Grilled Sausage Platters. On October 1st during the Midtown Village Fall Festival, McGillians will transform Drury Street into a giant Beer Garden with outside karaoke, German beers & foods.

Bauhaus Schmitz, Philadelphia's only authentic German bier hall and restaurant, will be celebrating its 3rd annual Oktoberfest with various activities over six days including flight night, German beer Quizzo, and a Bratwurst eating contest. On Saturday September 24th, the Big Bier Street Festival will shut down part of South Street at noon. Festivities include a pig roast, live music, and lots of Bavarian beer.

Enjoy seasonal beers from Victory and Oktoberfest-inspired eats. Victory Brewing Company's Oktoberfest-style Fest bier will be on tap along with one of your last chances this season to enjoy Victory's re-release of Victory's With Love Summer Love Ale. The Four Seasons Executive Chef Ralph Gonzalez and his culinary team will be preparing a special menu including bratwurst with sauerkraut, Wiener schnitzel with braised red cabbage, German potato salad and hot soft pretzels with cheese or mustard. You don't need to go through the hotel; you can enter straight from the corner of 18th and Cherry Streets. In the event of inclement weather, Oktoberfest at the With Love Beer Garden will be moved indoors to the Ballroom Foyer.

Celebrate Oktoberfest with beers from over 60 local, regional, and craft breweries at the 14th Annual Kennett Brewfest. Breweries participating in this year's event include: Dogfish Head Brewery, Flying Fish Brewery, Harpoon Brewery, Voo doo Brewery, Lancaster Brewing Co., Sly Fox, Red Hook Brewing, and many more. Street parking is free and a parking shuttle will run from the parking lots to the Kennett Brewfest from Noon to 6:30 PM. No one under 21 will be admitted. No babies or pets. Tickets are required for all attendees, tasters and non-tasters. This event will be held rain or shine.

Celebrate all things pumpkin at the 3rd Annual Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin Festival. This year kicks off with brunch featuring various menu items with pumpkin and an all pumpkin beer list which consists of beers from the breweries such as Weyerbacher, Southern Tier, Arcadia, Wolovers, Brooklyn, Lakefront, Doc Street, Elysian, Roy Pits and New Holla. The first 20 people to put down 6 pumpkin beers will receive a free pumpkin. Charlie Brown videos will be playing on the 2nd floor TV's.
