Giancarlo Stanton's 61 Homers Causes Problem For Marlins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The record for most home runs in the Home Run Derby was 41 by Phillies outfielder Bobby Abreu in 2005.

On Monday night, Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton broke that record and some, knocking out 61 homers to win the derby. Awesome, right? Not for the Marlins.

The Marlins were offering a promotion that stated, "each time G launches a home run out of Petco Park, we'll knock a percentage point off future Marlins tickets."

However, fans realized they would received only 25 percent off on all seats for a select 35 games only, not the 61 percent off they thought they deserved.

Marlins president David Samson told ESPN.com that, "Major League Baseball Advanced Media sets a maximum on these type of offers at 25 percent."

"What Giancarlo did was so cool that we are working on an additional offer," Samson told ESPN.com. "We're thinking about picking a game and offering 61 percent off."
