F&M Poll Of PA Voters: Trump, Carson Lead GOP; Dems Love Clinton

By Tony Romeo

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- A new poll of Pennsylvania GOP voters taken before last night's debate shows Donald Trump and Ben Carson neck-and-neck with registered Republicans, while Democrats are solidly behind Hillary Clinton.

Franklin and Marshall College Poll Director Terry Madonna says Donald Trump is at 23-percent, and Ben Carson at 22-percent, among Pennsylvania Republicans. But Madonna is more intrigued by Marco Rubio's third-place showing at 13-percent.

"In fact it now looks like Rubio could be the candidate in waiting, if you will, as the establishment candidate should Trump and Carson falter."

On the Democratic side, it's no contest, with 52-percent favoring Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders at just 18-percent. A majority of all registered voters – 51-percent – now believe embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane should resign. And Madonna says Pennsylvania voters now say the number one problem facing the state is, by far dysfunctional government.
