Family's Two Dogs Go Missing At Separate Times, Found Dead Together

WEST CHESTER, Pa, (CBS) -- The Brandywine Valley SPCA has announced that two dogs belonging to a local family were found dead on Thursday after the two went missing from their home in separate instances.

The BVSPCA Lost and Found team went searching for the first dog, Buddha, who went missing from the Downingtown residence.

While the search was taking place, the family's other dog, Oliver, went missing from the yard. Officials say they presume that Oliver went searching for Buddha.

Officials say that hours later, the two dogs were located on Sawmill Road, found lifeless in an embankment near their home. The owner identified the dogs and said they had been stripped of their collars. She contacted authorities.

A crew worker who reached out to the family upon finding the dogs in the embankment said that an unfamiliar black pickup truck was parked nearby on the day the dogs were located.

Adam Lamb, CEO of the BVSPCA announced that a reward of $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in connection to the killing and disposing of the two dogs. Pennsylvania State Police are working on the investigation with the BVSPCA Animal Protective Services group.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the BVSPCA at 484-302-0019.
