Exhibition Celebrates Art In Dozens Of Suburban Schools

JENKINTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The public is invited to attend an art show next week celebrating art in Bucks and Montgomery county schools.

It's the 29th year the "Touch the Future" art show will be held. It will highlight works of art from 25 schools.

Pennsylvania State Education Association is a sponsoring organization where Alan Malachowski is president elect of the mid-eastern region.

"When districts have to take a hard look at their budget certainly the first place they look is at art programs," he says. "And this show really celebrates the fact that arts are a core subject, they are part of what makes us human and they are part of what kids need in their lives."

The students will be judged in several categories, including print making, jewelry and medals, fiber crafts, digital media, drawing and painting.

The public is invited to check out the exhibit Saturday, April 2nd through Saturday, April 30th at the Abington Art Center located at 515 Meetinghouse Road in Jenkintown.
