Eagles To Hold Private Workout With Texas A&M Quarterback Ryan Tannehill

By Spike Eskin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – With the Peyton Manning sweepstakes out of the way, the Eagles have made it clear that Michael Vick is the quarterback for 2012. With the bulk of the money the Eagles owe Vick coming this year, it isn't clear that Vick is the quarterback for 2013 and beyond. They might be taking a look at that guy today.

According to Peter King of SI.com, the Eagles will hold a private workout with Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill today in College Station, Texas.

The Eagles select 15th in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, which by all indications will be too late to draft Tannehill, who is widely expected to go top five. If they're convinced Tannehill is the future QB of the Eagles, they'll have to find a way to trade up in the first round to get him.

It wouldn't be the first time the Eagles drafted a quarterback for the future while they had one in tow. They drafted Kevin Kolb in the second round of the 2007 draft while Donovan McNabb was still productive for the team. As Howie Roseman pointed out in an interview last week, Andy Reid comes from a system in Green Bay where they "drafted a quarterback every year."

The NFL Draft begins on April 26th.
